Placenta Encapsulation

What is placenta Encapsulation?

Placenta encapsulation put simply, is the act of gently cleaning the placenta, cutting and dehydrating it until crisp, then grinding it into power and putting it into capsules. The idea behind the process is that the hormones and vitamins found in the placenta help moms heal and cope better after pregnancy when hormones get thrown out of balance and there is the stress of healing and taking care of a newborn. Tinctures and salves can also be made with the placenta.

Basic Heated Method

Inspired by the Traditional Chinese Medicine method of preparation involves cleaning the placenta, gently heating the placenta with lemon (optional) and then dehydrating the placenta before it is put into capsules. Using this preparation is thought to bring out the placentas healing and tonifying properties as well as warming and healing the uterus.

FEE: $275

RAW Inspired

The RAW inspired method of preparation skips the heating process altogether. The placenta is still sliced, dehydrated and ground into a powder for the capsules. Raw food activists believe that steaming the placenta destroys some of the essential nutrients. Using this option provides a burst of energy upfront and great hormone stabilization.

Placenta Salve/Balm

Placenta salve can be used to heal C-Section incisions after the wound is closed. It can lessen scarring, itching and discomfort. It can also be used as soon as 3 days postpartum for hemorrhoids, perennial tearing, burns, diaper rash, eczema, sunburns and skin irritation. Safe for baby as long as baby has no skin allergies. Test a small area first. A Healing Salve is also available for purchase that does not contain placenta but still has many healing benefits, $15 2 (2oz)
